Description

Re-do of one of my most popular pieces. I don't know why its popular, it sucks. So I just remade it. :D

Note: Karson still doesn't like to have her chickens touched. Don't touch them.

At a first glance this is a funny and interesting piece that is charming and endearing. Despite your many well-accomplished areas in the drawing, there's still areas for improvement.

First, I'll address the subject of the image. The pose is natural and dynamic and the proportions seem to be quite good. However, a few things about this pose are not so well resolved. its not clear where the right forepaw is (the one somehow tucked into the chickens) or how its interacting with the grouping of chickens. This seems to stem from the less accomplished nature of the chickens. Though the appearance of a 'blob of chickens" is humorous, I get stuck and confused in this part because it is simply unclear how those objects are interacting and how they're set in the space. The second issue to be resolved is the left hindpaw. Though it seems to be too far from the limb its supposed to be connected to, and its also a little confuzing because the piece has nothing that indicates depth outside of overlapping. To resolve this, I'd recommend working with the thickness of the lines, as there is an attractive quality to the flat colors for this style.

The background is simple, but detailed, and pretty. I like the textures used in it all over, which actually make it more complex than the main focus of the image in some ways. Addimg more depth through color variation or by simply creating a few more layers of background as has been suggested might be interesting, but I do not really miss it for the style and type of image.

Overall, the idea is very well concieved and this is a huge leap from there the first piece was. The dog is expressive and the image is unusual, humorous and original. Well done!
